This is an interesting post! I agree...for a modern railroad, BNSF's livery selection was quite bold - especially with so many modern railroads being so monochrome. It pays homage to its predecessor railroads (Primarily Great Northern with the Green/Orange with some of the Sante Fe stripe elements). The Great Northern is one of my favorite US railroads. Yes, sadly, oil was too cheap in the USA, and with better tunnel ventilation and diesels, these electrics became only memories! :-(
